AI visibility for med spas

When clients ask AI for the best med spa in town, are you in the answer?

More and more people ask ChatGPT, Google’s AI, Perplexity or Claude where to book. Spring Cited finds out what those assistants say about med spas in your city. Then we fix the lists, listings and pages the answers are built from.

Your med spa: not mentioned, despite better reviews
The shift

Being great on Google Maps doesn’t mean AI will mention you.

45%

of consumers say they use ChatGPT or other AI tools to get recommendations for local businesses.

66% vs ~35%

In 200,000 local searches, Google Maps named a tracked business 66% of the time. The AI assistants named it only 32–38% of the time.

of the citations in those AI answers pointed to businesses’ own websites. The rest came from listings, directories and other sites you can influence.

What we’ve seen

Why AI skips good businesses

AI assistants don’t judge your work. They search the web, read what ranks, and summarize it. If the pages they read don’t mention you, they won’t either.

How we looked: In October 2026 we ran a small spot check of 9 searches, covering plumbers, dentists and med spas in Columbus, Raleigh and Tucson. Each search ran once, using an AI web-search tool as a stand-in for consumer chatbots. It’s a small sample, so treat the results as directional, not proof. The industry studies we cite are linked.

01

Answers follow “best of” lists

When an answer cited a ranked directory, the businesses it named mostly came from the top of that list. In one city, the three plumbers named matched one ranking site’s top three exactly.

02

Great reviews aren’t enough on their own

In Tucson, two med spas with perfect 5.0 ratings and more than 260 reviews each weren’t named. Two with fewer reviews were. One has a dedicated “med spa in Tucson” page, and the other leads with a local readers’ choice award.

03

Local awards and press show up

In Raleigh, every med spa named was connected to a local “Best Of” award or a press release.

04

Each assistant reads different sources

Google’s AI leans on Google Business Profiles. Industry studies show ChatGPT often cites the BBB and state licensing pages, and Claude and Perplexity lean on Yelp. To get named across the board, you have to be strong in all of those places.

What we check

Everything an AI reads before it names a med spa

Real client questions

“Best med spa in…”, “who does natural-looking Botox near…”. We ask 12 of them, across 4 assistants, 3 times each, because answers change from one ask to the next.

Cited sources

The exact lists, directories, articles and award pages each assistant pulls from in your city, and whether you’re on them.

Competitor gap

What the med spas that do get named have that you don’t: list rankings, awards, press, city pages, review volume.

Listings & consistency

Google Business Profile, Yelp, BBB, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. Your name, address, phone and hours should match everywhere.

Your website

A clear “med spa in [your city]” page, service pages, FAQs, price ranges, structured data, and whether AI crawlers can actually read it.

Reviews & reputation

Review volume and recency compared with the businesses that get named, plus a review-request routine that follows each platform’s rules.

Pricing

Flat prices. Pay online. No calls.

Straight answers

Questions owners ask us

Can you guarantee my med spa will be recommended by ChatGPT or Google's AI?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who says they can. AI answers change from one ask to the next. In BrightLocal's 2026 study of 200,000 local AI searches, repeat runs of the same question shared only 20–33% of the businesses they named. What we can do is improve the things those answers are built from, which are the lists, listings, pages and press they cite, and then measure how often you're named over many runs, so you see the trend instead of one lucky screenshot.

Why would an AI skip a med spa with great reviews?

Because the AI usually isn't reading your reviews directly. It searches the web and summarizes what it finds, so it leans on whatever pages it pulls up. Those are often “best of” directories, local award pages, Yelp, the Google Business Profile, and clinics' own city pages. In our own spot check, two Tucson med spas with perfect 5.0 ratings and more than 260 reviews each were left out, while two with fewer reviews were named. One had a dedicated “med spa in Tucson” page, and the other leads with a local readers' choice award.

Which AI assistants do you check?

ChatGPT, Google's AI (AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini), Perplexity and Claude. Your free snapshot uses one assistant, and the full audit uses all four, running each question three times.

How is this different from a $29 AI-visibility audit or a tracking tool?

Those tools tell you that you're not showing up and hand you a to-do list. We tell you why, specific to your city and your competitors, and then we write the fixes. On the monthly plan, we make them for you.
